Richard A. Anderson Memorial Page

Richard Anderson was born on May 11th, 1951, and died on November 17th, 2002, after battling complications from diabetes. Richard is the author of the novel titled The Temple of The Heart, the semi-autobiographical tale of a monk who leaves the monastery and pursues life in all its glory. He was Leslie Soule’s stepfather and literary mentor. He had a noble, kind spirit and a sharp intellect to match the wisdom of his old soul. Though he has passed, his light shines on eternally.

“If I could give you

diamonds for sky,

or some other vision

of nobler heart

and its aspirations,

or heaven for life

within the dream suites

of dignity,

I would give forth so freely

upon the heart that believes.

If I could bequeath

the hills and fields

of forever,

the dawn cloak of

mystery lifting,

and no lesser part of me,

I surrender it willingly.”

~Poem by Richard A. Anderson, found in a notebook.

Richard’s death was brought about by diabetes and there are many people who currently suffer from diabetes. In honor of my stepfather’s legacy, all author proceeds from the sale of his novel will be donated to Brenda Novak’s Online Auction for Diabetes Research, which supports the Diabetes Research Institute at the University of Miami. The research institute is working to try and find a cure for diabetes.

-In 2011, we raised $70 in the online auction.
-In 2012, we raised $160. (Let’s make this the goal to beat in 2013!!!)
